KATHMANDU, Jan 1: Harka Raj Rai, the newly appointed Secretary of the House of Representatives, was sworn in on Wednesday. He took the oath of office and secrecy before Speaker Devraj Ghimire.
The swearing-in ceremony was held in the meeting room of the Agriculture, Cooperatives, and Natural Resources Committee of parliament. It was attended by Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, Federal Parliament General Secretary Padma Prasad Pandey, leaders and chief whips of ruling and opposition parties, members of parliament, and parliament service employees.

President Ram Chandra Paudel appointed Rai to the position on Tuesday, based on the recommendation of the Speaker. Rai, a resident of Shiva Shatakshi Municipality-2, Jhapa, has a long career in the teaching profession and has worked as a trainer in various government and non-government organizations.
