HoR endorses international agreement for establishment of Peace University

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today endorsed the International Agreement for the Establishment of the University for Peace. 

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa presented a proposal, on behalf of Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, before the lower house session seeking the acceptance of the Agreement. 

In his replies to queries raised by the HoR members over the proposal, the Home Minister said peace was essential to see progress of the nation and people and the Agreement would be significant in achieving peace. 

Khagraj Adhikari, Prem Suwal, Pushpa Bhusal, Nawaraj Silwal, Dev Prasad Gurung,Radha Kumari Gyawali, Sarita Giri, Anjana Bisankhe and Satya Pahadi put their queries about the proposal and described it as a good one. 

In the meeting, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara read out letters received from the Office of the President giving information about the authentication of bills recently passed by the parliament and designation of Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel as the acting Prime Minister in absence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli who is presently in the United States of America in course of attending the 73rd session of United Nations General Assembly. 

In the meeting, President of International Relations Committee, Pabitra Niraula (Kharel), presented the Committee report about the passport bill. The lower house next meeting has been scheduled for 14:00 pm tomorrow.
