KATHMANDU, Oct 23: The Ministry of Home Affairs has provided financial relief to the families of those who lost their lives due to floods, landslides and inundation on September 27 and 28.
According to Rishi Ram Tiwari, the spokesperson and joint secretary at the ministry, relief funds have been provided to the families of 238 people who died in the monsoon-induced disasters. The families of 238 victims have each received Rs 200,000 in relief.
However, the families of 12 people who lost their lives in the disaster have not received relief. Tiwari clarified that the relief funds for the families of the 12 victims have not been released due to incomplete documentation, family details and problems in identifying genuine beneficiaries.

He said that the government has distributed Rs 54.6 million as relief to the families of the deceased.
In Kavre, out of 79 deceased, 78 families have received relief funds while 45 families out of 46 have received relief funds in Lalitpur; 36 in Dhading; 19 in Kathmandu; seven each in Panchthar, Makwanpur, Sindhupalchok, and Dolakha.
Additionally, relief has been provided to five families in Solukhumbu, four each in Bhaktapur and Rautahat, three each in Sarlahi and Sindhuli, and two each in Jhapa, Mahottari, and Rupandehi and one each in Ilam, Dhankuta, Udayapur, Okhaldhunga, Ramechhap, Saptari, and Siraha.
The disaster resulted in injuries to 177 individuals, while 18 people are still missing.
