KATHMANDU, Dec 24: A secretariat member of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Ram Bahadur Thapa has reached Baluwatar in the capital to attend the ongoing central working committee meeting of a faction close to the party Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The meeting is underway at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

Though Thapa, who is also the Minister for Home Affairs in the Oli-led Cabinet, did not attend any factional meetings organized by the two rival factions--one led by PM Oli and the other by Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal--he finally pushed himself to the Oli-led camp.

Leader Thapa belonged to the erstwhile CPN Maoist prior to the merger of then CPN UML and CPN Maoist. Earlier, the former Maoist leader trio Lekhraj Bhatta, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and Mani Thapa also joined the Oli-faction.

Similar meeting of the Dahal-Nepal faction is also being held at New Baneshwor. The meeting is expected to announce various protest programs against the ‘unconstitutional’ dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Sunday.
