Home Minister Lamichhane directs police to address citizens' complaints promptly

KATHMANDU, June 1: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane conducted inspections of three police circles in Kathmandu namely, Bouddha, Gaushala and Maharajgunj.


During last night's monitoring, Home Minister Lamichhane gathered information from chiefs of police circles regarding their work systems, manpower, document management, use of technology and any issues faced by the police offices.

The monitoring also covered the nature and volume of complaints and reports received daily, investigation challenges, ongoing cases, the capacity of detention cells and the current detainee numbers.


Home Minister Lamichhane directed the heads of all three police circles to promptly address citizens' complaints, adopt a victim-friendly approach and take their responsibilities seriously. Additionally, the Home Minister's Secretariat instructed the Maharajgunj Police Circle Chief to submit a special security plan for the new bus park area within five days.


Home Minister Lamichhane has initiated these inspections of lower-level police units to recommend reforms for more effective police operations and develop work plans aimed at making the police organization more citizen-friendly, professional, resourceful and responsive.
