UDAYPUR, Feb 14: A division football team Himalayan Sherpa Club faced semifinal exit from the Fourth Rumpum Udayapur Gold Cup Football Tournament after facing a 3-2 defeat against Rupandehi XI on Tuesday at the Tharuhat stadium in Ghaighat, Udayapur.

Following the win of Rupandehi in the second semifinal, the summit clash of the tournament will not have any A division teams. In the final scheduled for Thursday, Rupandehi will take on Morang XI, who overcame another A division outfit Sankata Club 2-1 in the first semifinal on Monday.

Deepak Rai netted twice for Rupandehi after Amar Dangol gave early lead to the team. Amar put Rupandehi ahead in the 20th minute and Dipak Rai doubled the advantage for the district team in the 37th minute. Himalayan Sherpa cut the deficit in the 83rd minute through Bishwas Shrestha.

But Rupandehi restored its two goal lead in the first minute of the five minute stoppage time as Dipak achieved the target with his second individual goal of the match and almost killed the match.

However, a determined Himalayan Sherpa netted the second goal a minute later but it was too late for the capital-based team to score third and force a draw.

Twin goal scorer Dipak of the winning team was declared the-man-of-the-match and given Rs 5,000 as reward for his feat.
