KATHMANDU, Aug 24: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) declined the third day in a row with the index going down by 18.02 points to close at 2,739.95 points on Sunday.
The secondary market opened at 2,757.97 points and surged to the day’s high at 2,770.63 points in the first 17 minutes. However, the index went to a straight fall for almost three hours of trading to reach the day’s low at 2,738.31 points in the last 37 minutes. The market recovered only 1.64 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.
1,654 COVID-19 recovery cases recorded in Khotang
Manufacturing and processing added 12.09 points and stood as the single gaining group in the intraday trading. Of the 12 losers, the development bank index plunged by the largest of 97.84 points.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 3.06 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 6.54 billion from Rs 5.02 billion on Thursday, the last trading day of the last week.
Among the individual companies, 41 were gainers while 208 were recorded as losers. Himalayan Distillery Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 1.75 billion.
The share price of Narayani Development Bank fell 7.29 percent, the largest of all. Bikash Hydropower Company Limited had the highest rise of 9.99 percent in its market value.
