KATHMANDU, Jan 9: Himalaya Airlines has passed the international flight operations safety audit under an International Air Transport Association (IATA) operational safety audit program. The company has received global safety management accreditation to be maintained till March 2025.
IATA has registered Himalaya Airlines as an IOSA operator. 360 airlines around the world are registered as IOSA operators. Himalaya Airlines is the first Nepali company to be registered as an IOSA operator.

"This milestone signifies a positive shift in Nepal's aviation industry," Vijay Shrestha, the operator's vice president, said at the press briefing.
The vice president of Himalaya Airlines, Vijay Shrestha, said that it is a matter of pride for the country to be recognized as an IOSA operator. "We are proceeding according to the rules of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. The credit for us getting recognition goes to the authorities concerned," he said.
The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) is a globally recognized testing program. It is developed to evaluate the operations management and control system of airlines. This includes examination of airlines' policies, procedures and practices.
