LALITPUR, Dec 19: Enlightening Young Souls (EYS), in collaboration with Shanti Education Foundation, organized a hiking called ‘Hike to Enlight’ from Jyamirkot, a VDC in Lalitpur, to Kotdanda on Saturday.

This program was organized to aware youth of Kathmandu the situation of education in public schools and the measures required to enhance it. There were around 400 participants who were taken to Jyamirkot, Dharachaur and Kotdada. They observed the semi-rural lifestyle of people living in the outskirts of Kathmandu valley.

The registration fees and funds collected from the hike will be donated to the school. The participants were also briefed regarding the regulations to be followed during the hike.

The 8 km hike covered all the locations in and around the Jyamirkot area.

“We as youths must unite together to help develop the under-privileged villages such as Jyamirkot as the government has become too Kathmandu-centric.” Adhyan Chandra Bhatta, a participant of the hike said.

Saharsha Khatri, the founding member of Enlightening Young Souls initiative, says that he believes the best possible way to encourage students to be more attentive in school is to include the effective practices of creative education.
