POKHARA, Jan 12: Nepal Red Cross Society, Kaski chapter has started construction of a blood transfusion center with state-of-the-art facilities. The total cost of the center is estimated to be around Rs 80 million.

The three-storied building is being built in Pokhara Metropolitan City-8 as the building constructed in 1989 at the premises of Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences is now in dilapidated condition due to mega earthquake that hit the country in April, 2015

Coordinator of the building construction committee Dandaraj Poudel shared that more than 50 million rupees has been collected so far for the construction of the building. This includes Rs 10 million from the Federal Government, Rs 5 million from the Gandaki Province Government and remaining amount from different other social organisations.

With the sorry state of the building, the center is facing challenges to keep invaluable equipment worth millions safe, Poudel said.
