MAHOTTARI (Dhanusha), Sept 1: The government in Province 2 is to constitute a high-level committee to investigate into the killing of eight-month-old baby girl at Aurahi of Mahottari.

Province minister for internal affairs and law, Gyanendra Yadav, said this while replying to queries of State Assembly members in today's session. He promised a fair investigation into the incident and stern action against guilty.

As he said, a suspected killer is believed to have been hiding in the jungle. The eight-month-old Sonali Chaudhary was believed to be raped before her murder. The province minister also vowed to come up with a stern law against rape.

Similarly, he said people responsible for the Lalbakaiya river boat-capsize that killed five people would be brought to book. A boat capsized at the Lalbakaiya River in Tikuliyaghat of Gaur Municipality-4, Rauhat last Saturday. The boat capsized after hitting a pillar erected in course of the construction of a bridge over the river as it was en route to Gaur from Aurhiya of Ishanath municipality.

As promised by the minister, the province minister is coming with a separate bill related to good governance soon with an objective of building a corruption-free society.

SA member Manish Suman claimed that a delay in completing the project related to the construction of a cemented river over the river resulted in the Lalbakaiya river boat- capsize, demanding action against its contractor. He accused the police administration of using coercive force over the agitation of social mobilisers. According to him, demands of social mobilisors should be addressed.

State Assembly members Manju Yadav questioned over the leadership of Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut. She sought disciplinary action against those SA members who boycotted the recent address to the province 2 SA by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
