MAHENDRANAGAR, August 25: The High Court, Janakpur, has ordered a DNA test of the child of Niharika Rajput of Jaleshwor in Mahottari and that of Shiva Raj Shrestha.
This was one of the key demands of Niharika, who even attempted a self-immolation in front of the Office of President to exert pressure on the government to meet her demands.
Accused Shrestha to undergo DNA test
A division bench of judges-- Bhojraj Adhikari and Rekha Pandey– issued the order on Wednesday. Niharika has been demanding a DNA test of her son and Shiva Raj for a long time as she claims that her son was born as a result of alleged rape by Shiva Raj.
Niharika had appealed at the High Court, Janakpur, after the District Court, Dhanusha, gave clean chit to the accused Shiva Raj.
The case was fast-tracked after Niharika tried to commit suicide by self-immolation in front of the President's Office in Kathmandu. Police have already arrested the accused Shiva Raj for further investigation.
