JANAKPUR, Oct 19: Local administration and security agencies in the district are focused on a high-level security arrangement for the upcoming visit by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.
As per the part of the preparation, Chief District Officer (CDO) Dilip Chapagain, District Police Chief SP Lalmani Acharya, SP Uttamraj Thannet of AFP Border Security Force, SP Sanjay Yadav of National Investigation Department and Local Development Officer Santa Bahadur Sunuwar among others held a discussion with journalists on Wednesday.
On the invitation of President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Indian President Mukherjee is arriving on a three-day state visit to Nepal on November 2.
CDO Chapagain briefed the meeting about the security situation in the district and preparations for the much-talked about visit by the Indian President.

“We haven’t received any official confirmation regarding the visit. But, we are preparing as there is a high change of the Indian President visiting Janakpur,” said CDO Chapagain.
He added that local political parties have agreed to form a committee led by Acting Chief of Janakpur Sub-metropolitan city Punya Prasad Luintel to felicitate Indian President Mukherjee.
“We will felicitate the Indian President in a way he will know about the culture of the region,” said CDO Chapagain, “All the residents will welcome Mukherjee by placing a kalash (metal pot) and flags of Nepal and India in front of their houses.”
A security official said that the final preparations are underway for the security of the Indian President.
“A team of Indian security men in plain clothes will be deployed in the first layer. Then, personnel of Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and National Investigation Department will be deployed in other layers,” said an official.
CDO Chapagain said that it is almost confirmed that Indian President Mukherjee will lay a foundation stone for the construction of the Postal Highway.
Meanwhile, he added that President Bhandari is also likely to visit Janakpur one week before the Indian President.
