President to address parliament on Thursday

The meeting of the Council of Minister today prepared a schedule for President Bidya Devi Bhandari to address the federal parliaments at 4:00 PM on March 29. This is the first time that the President will be addressing the federal parliaments after the completion of elections. 

EU report condemned

The EU report on election was condemned in the parliament today. Following EU’s decision not to revise its recommendations, a rift has emerged between the government and the bilateral agency.

PM’s advisors appointed

The government has appointed Dr Kundan Aryal as the press advisor of the Prime Minister, while Achyut Mainali as the public relations advisor. 
Double taxation to be lifted

Double taxation on house renting would be lifted while people displaced by the Ranijamara project would be provided with compensation. In addition, the treatment cost provided to those injured in the bomb blasts during the elections and in the violence against women. 

Diplomatic passports to coordinators

In line with federal setup, provincial governors, members and coordinators of the district coordination committee will be entitled for diplomatic passport following today’s cabinet meeting endorsement. Meanwhile, the meeting also agreed to provide special passport to mayors and chairperson of rural municipalities.

Extension of 13 colonels

The government has decided to extend tenure of 13 colonels of Nepal Army.
