SINDHUPALCHOK, OCT 17: The heavy rainfall on Saturday night damaged the temporary motorway that was built at Melamchi-Indrawati after the multiple floods since June 15 swept away the infrastructure in the area.
A devastating flood and landslide in Melamchi River on the day had caused massive destruction in Helambu Rural Municipality and downstream villages of Melamchi Municipality. The successive floods and landslides also devastated the head works of Melamchi Drinking Water Project.
In the three months after the floods damaged the permanent structure, a temporary bridge was built using RCC hume pipes. Tara Baniya, Chairman of the Consumer Committee, said they will repair the damaged road after there is an improvement in weather conditions.
The rainfall has also damaged the temporary structure at Phatte and disrupted vehicular movement along Melamchi-Duwachaur section of the road.
