KATHMANDU, Feb 22: Hearing on the writ petition filed against government's decision to appoint Jay Bahadur Chand as the Inspector General of Police ran short of time on Wednesday. So, the hearing would continue on Thursday.

On February 10, advocate Kapil Dev Dhakal had filed the writ petition accusing government of trying to violate the rule of seniority in the appointment of IGP.

Similarly, on February 12, first in the seniority for the appointment, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Nawaraj Silwal moved the SC resulting in the stay order on the assumption of office by Chand.

The government had appointed DIG Chand as Inspector General of Police on February 12. In the division bench of Hari Krishna Karki and Tej Bahadur KC on Wednesday, seven advocates pleaded for DIG Silwal, while time ran short for those to plead for DIG Chand. So, the hearing would continue tomorrow. RSS
