KATHMANDU, Sept 21: The hearing on the writ petition filed by CPN-UML Chairman and former prime minister KP Sharma Oli against 14 lawmakers of his party is currently underway at the Supreme Court.

Oli filed the writ petition against 14 UML lawmakers, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Agni Prasad Sapkota and Speaker of Lumbini Province. Oli filed three different writ petitions against them on September 1.

The hearing was continued today after a joint bench of justices Dip Kumar Karki and Dr Kumar Chudal could not complete it on Monday. The court is likely to decide whether to issue an interim order as demanded by Oli today.

Earlier, Oli filed the petition at the Supreme Court, seeking the removal of the 14 lawmakers from the HoR and the provincial assembly and invalidating the newly formed party, CPN (Unified Socialist).

Another petition was filed against Speaker Sapkota, accusing him of ignoring the termination of the lawmakers against whom the CPN-UML had taken action.
