Former Chief Minister (CM) Kedar Karki has argued in the writ that Province Chief Parshuram Khapung unlawfully dismissed his government.
Khapung had appointed CPN-UML leader Hikmat Karki to the post of chief minister based on Article 168 (5) of the Constitution on May 9.
After lawmakers from the UML and CPN-Maoist Center withdrew their support, Kedar Karki’s government became a minority government on May 8.
UML leader Hikmat Karki claimed the position of CM with the support of 52 lawmakers from the UML and the Maoist Center.
Dissatisfied with this process, former CM Kedar Karki approached the court, demanding that Hikmat Karki be dismissed and that he (Kedar) be reinstated.
