Health Ministry reports Nepal's 39th COVID-19 death

KATHMANDU, July 15: Ministry of Health and Population on Wednesday reported Nepal's 39th COVID-19 death.

A 36-year-old man from Rautahat district, who was staying at a quarantine facility in his home village Parroha Municipality-7 in the district after returning from Mumbai, India, died in the course of treatment at the Narayani Hospital in Birgunj.

According to Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, the man was admitted to the hospital on Monday after he complained of breathing difficulties while staying at the quarantine facility.

His throat swab was collected and sent for testing at a laboratory in Hetauda. The throat swab was tested positive on Tuesday. "He breathed his last in the course of treatment today [Wednesday] afternoon," Spokesperson Gautam said.

The man had returned home a few days ago after conducting final rites of his brother in Mumbai. His brother had also succumbed to coronavirus infection in India.
