Guru: One who lets light in life (With Video)

In a person’s life, a teacher has his/her influence not only in the classroom but well into the future. With their guidance, students can reach impeccable heights of success. In Nepal, ‘Guru Purnima’ or ‘Teacher’s Day’ is celebrated on Asadh Sukla Purnima in the lunar calendar. Guru Purnima, also known as Vyas Jyanti is being observed on Sunday.

Along with recognizing the contribution of teachers, this day also signifies the birth anniversary of sage Ved Vyas, the legendary author of Mahabharat, Vedas and Puranas.

Anyone who helps you overcome your confusion and helps you get your goal is the Guru. In Sanskrit, its syllables literally means ‘Gu’ as darkness and ‘ru' as destroyer; hence Guru means a person who destroys the darkness.
