KATHMANDU, Nov 30: As the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) is just on the horizon, the National Sports Council (NSC) has begun to beatify the Dasharath Stadium. 

With just two days remaining for the SAG to kick off including the opening ceremony, a grand rehearsal was performed starting from 5 pm in the evening with all the participants performing the march-past at the stadium along with the jhanki dance. 

While the rehearsal was being done inside the ground at 5, different costumes resembling the culture of Nepal were preparing in different groups for their own act. 

Among the participants were Prasiddha Model School’s class nine student Susti Rijal, Aayushi Khanal, Pushpa Tamang, Dipa Thapa Magar and Rasina Basnet and they were on the Pancha Buddha costume. 

They were on line for their act before the host called out their names for the rehearsal. Rasana Maharjan led the group and was giving direction for the students to prepare according to the plan. 

“I am aware that the 13th SAG is taking place in our country, but I am unaware about the games included in this competition,” said Rijal, “I am entering at the Dasharath Stadium for the first time. I am very excited to be among the ones watching the SAG.” 

Her friend, Khanal has pretty much the same experience with the stadium. “I am aware of the fact that the SAG had started from Nepal. I have heard that this edition of the tournament is the third time,” Khanal said. “I am excited as well to be a part of the presentation of the cultural act for the opening ceremony of the SAG.” 

Likewise, Ribs School’s students who performed Far Western’s Hurkeli dance, expressed their excitement to perform their acts on the SAG. 

“I have not watched any matches at the Dasharath Stadium. I love football very much and I have heard that football will be played after the opening ceremony,” said class seven student Sajeev Rai, “I am excited to watch Nepal’s game already, but the game got postponed to the next day. I will come to watch the game even if I have to buy the ticket.” 

The SAG will start from December 1 to 10. However, the volleyball matches began from Wednesday.
