KATHMANDU, Aug 13: As COVID-19 cases are increasing 'massively' in densely-populated cities in Nepal, the government has urged several businesses to conduct the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests of their staffers on their own dime.
Issuing a public notice on Wednesday, the Ministry ofHealth and Population directed the shopping malls, restaurants and cafés, and hotels, to conduct PCR tests of their staffers at their own expenses.
"The people involved in these sectors come into contact with people even in the risk zone. So there is a possible risk of spread from these sectors," reads the statement issued by the health ministry.
As of Thursday afternoon, the official government data shows that there are 7,613 active COVID-19 cases, with 91 deaths so far.
