Govt urges people to follow health protocols citing rise in infection rate in India

KATHMANDU, May 2: The government has called for health precautions, stating that the number of COVID-19 infections is on the rise yet again in neighboring India.

The government has made the announcement following the rise in the number of coronavirus infections in India. According to the Ministry of Health and Population Spokesperson Dr Sameer Kumar Adhikari, the government has urged the people to take health precautions saying that coronavirus infection may increase in Nepal as the rate of the virus infection has been increasing in India recently. He said that the Ministry of Health has instructed the hospitals and doctors to start preparations to check the infection rate.

Dr Adhikari said that the general public has stopped following the health protocols as the infection rate declined over the past couple of months. He stressed that it is necessary to follow the health standards again. He also said that the government has started work to reduce corona infection by adhering to public health standards and focusing on vaccinating those who are yet to get COVID-19 shots.

He stressed that the health protocols adopted in the past should be followed and vaccination against COVID-19 should be continued in order to prevent the virus from spreading. He said that the risk of the virus can be reduced if timely precautions are taken.
