KATHMANDU, April 9: Chairman of the main opposition party, CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli has said that the government has shown shamelessness by suspending Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Maha Prasad Adhikari.

Referring to Finance Minister Janardhan Sharma, Chairman Oli made a remark that the government has shown shamelessness by taking action against the governor who is an innocent frog even though the hairy mouse has ruined the economy.

Speaking at a party induction function in Kathmandu on Saturday, he accused the government of making the governor a scapegoat by suspending him from his post.

While objecting the government’s move to suspend Governor Adhikari and form an investigation committee headed by a judge known for his allegiance to the Maoist Center, Chairman Oli also said that CPN Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had presented an extreme example of nepotism by disrespecting and ignoring those who had been affected by the people's movement. The allegation came after Chairman Dahal chose to make his own brother Narayan Prasad Dahal a member of the National Assembly.

Chairman Oli also expressed dissatisfaction over the move of the Election Commission (EC) to issue the election code of conduct without consulting the opposition parties. He said that instead of requesting the political parties to complete the election in a peaceful manner, the EC is showing sticks and warning the parties.

However, Oli said that his party is committed to abide by the election code of conduct even as this was issued without holding consultation with his party.
