KATHMANDU, August 16: The government has urged the former Gurkha veterans, who are currently staging a hunger strike in London, to withdraw their strike.

A cabinet meeting held earlier on Monday took the decision to this effect.

According to Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, the spokesperson for the government, the government has already initiated diplomatic talks with the British government to solve the issue raised by the agitating former Gurkha veterans.

The ex-Gurkha veterans have been staging a relay hunger strike in front of the office of the British Prime Minister demanding equal pension pay and have now threatened to launch a fast-unto-death campaign.

“The government is committed to solve problems of former Gurkha veterans in England diplomatically,” Spokesperson Karki added.
