KATHMANDU, April 28: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has approved the Disaster-affected Private Housing Strengthening, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Grant Procedure-2081 BS.
The procedure classifies districts into three levels for disbursing grants in installments for reconstruction and restoration of private housing. According to the classification, the government will allocate Rs 500,000 for 15 districts in Group A, Rs 400,000 for 35 districts in Group B and Rs 300,000 for 27 districts in Group C.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), districts have been classified into three groups based on geographical factors, road accessibility, cost of construction materials and labor wages.
As per the procedure, households undergoing rehabilitation can receive up to Rs 300,000 for purchasing houses, with an additional Rs 50,000 earmarked for impoverished households unable to construct their own houses. Moreover, depending on the extent of damage, Rs 50,000 to Rs 100,000 may be allocated for strengthening private housing structures.
The procedure also includes provisions for up to 90 percent discount on government timber for quantities up to 40 cubic feet. As per the procedure, the local authorities have been authorized to offer concessions on stone, gravel, and sand.
