Govt to provide Rs 1m  to families of those killed in Gen-Z protests

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday took this decision, besides providing Rs 500,000 in assistance for death rituals, food and transportation costs to the families of the martyrs of the Gen-Z protests.

KATHMANDU, Sept 26: The government has decided to provide Rs 1 million each to the families of those people killed in the Gen-Z protests that took place on September 8 and 9, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel said.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday took this decision, besides providing Rs 500,000 in assistance for death rituals, food and transportation costs to the families of the martyrs of the Gen-Z protests. However, such assistance will not be given to those inmates and juvenile delinquents killed after they attempted to flee the jails and juvenile reform centres.
