KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The government will now issue a receipt with a photo and QR code to those who pass the driving license trial. Since it is currently unable to provide a smart card immediately, the government has decided to include the photo on the receipt.

Similarly, traffic police will be provided with machines to read QR codes. Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, stated that due to delays in the distribution of smart licenses, a new approach has been adopted as an immediate solution to the problem.

About 15,00,000 service recipients who have passed the trial have still not received their smart cards. Since the machines of the Department of Transport Management cannot read the new cards purchased, an alternative solution has been sought. Additionally, the federal government has requested that cards, except for those deemed essential, be printed at the provincial level.

A committee, chaired by the Federal Minister for Physical Infrastructure, has been formed to address the problem. After the Bagmati Province government announced that it would print the cards itself, other provinces have indicated that they are preparing to do the same.
