NUWAKOT, Aug 30: Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal has said the government will bring Nepali citizens stranded in Kerung, China, back to Nepal through alternative routes following the Bhotekoshi floods.
Speaking during an inspection of the flood-affected Dhunge area of Bidur Municipality-1, Khanal said preliminary information suggested around 1,000 Nepalis were currently stranded in Kerung.

He said Nepal had already requested China to facilitate the reopening of the Tatopani border point in Sindhupalchok and the use of the Korala border point in Mustang as alternative routes.
Khanal also said Chinese and Indian experts had been invited to assist in rescuing people trapped inside hydropower project tunnels, as foreign technical assistance was considered necessary.
He added that Nepal could seek assistance from other countries if required, saying the international community had expressed its willingness to support Nepal and that assistance would be sought according to need.
