Govt talks team starts negotiating with Dr KC

KATHMANDU, July 28: The government talks team has started negotiating with senior surgeon Dr Govinda KC who is undergoing fast-unto-death since last Monday.

The government formed a high level 3-member team led by secretary at theMinistry of Education Shanta Bahadur Shrestha to hold talks with Dr Govinda KC in line with the decision taken by the Cabinet on Thursday.

Dr KC, who is also a professor at the Institute of Medicine (IOM), has been demanding that the government bring Medical Education Act, slash fees of postgraduate studies in medicine from Rs 3.1 million to Rs 2.2 million, and probe into the irregularities of TU officials and take action against them.
