Govt revising existing mass media laws in line with the spirit of federalism: Minister Sharma

KATHMANDU, Feb 19: Communication and Information Technology Minister Rekha Sharma has said that the government is going to amend the laws in accordance with the spirit of federalism so that it is felt at the local level.

KATHMANDU, Feb 19: Communication and Information Technology Minister Rekha Sharma has said that the government is going to amend the laws in accordance with the spirit of federalism so that it is felt at the local level.


Addressing the 62nd anniversary of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the national news agency, on Sunday, Minister Sharma said that in collaboration with the stakeholders, they are preparing to amend the laws and make new laws in accordance with the essence and spirit of federalism.

She said that the government plans to enhance the communication sector by revising the existing laws related to mass communication and enacting new ones as necessary. Minister Sharma also emphasized the need to regulate the spread of false news by the media. She further stated that the RSS should strive to improve both the quality of news content and the management of human resources within the industry.
