Govt reduces commission for informants, govt employee non-eligible for such rewards

KATHMANDU, June 12:  The government has reduced the commission for informants of illegal trade by amending the customs regulation.


The government used to offer a reward of up to 15 percent to the informant for reporting acts of illegal imports. Now, the amount has been reduced to 10 percent.

Earlier, this provision was also applicable for government employees, police and army personnel as well. Now, those who get a salary from the government will no longer be eligible for this reward.


Previously, the informant who disclosed information regarding gold smuggling was rewarded with a lot of money. However, the government has reduced the commission amount this year.
