KATHMANDU, Jan 8: The government of Nepal has decided to take an initiative to stop the obstruction created by the main opposition party CPN-UML in the house sessions. The house sessions have been obstructed since the start of the 9th General Convention of the CPN-UML.
Similarly, the government has clarified that the US-funded Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) will not be endorsed by the parliament amid the obstructions created by CPN-UML. The government is trying to forge a consensus with the UML in order to ensure smooth functioning of parliament, according to a source.
MCC will be tabled in parliament today: Minister Karki
Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government has also called for an all-party meeting to discuss the endorsement of MCC.
UML has been obstructing the previous session of parliament arguing that Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota did not fulfill his duties by not removing the 14 lawmakers from their posts against whom the CPN-UML had requested the speaker to take action.
