Govt office chiefs issue seven-point declaration paper on RTI

MYGADI, Jan 9: The government office chiefs in Myagdi have issued a seven-point declaration paper for implementation of the right to information (RTI) and its protection. 


A meeting presided over by Chief District Officer (CDO), Keshav Raj Acharya on Sunday in Beni and attended by National Information Commission (NIC) Chief Information Commissioner, Krishna Hari Baskota, issued the declaration paper.

The declaration paper was issued with the decision to remain committed for honouring and protecting RTI with transparency and accountability for developing a culture of exchange of information and to uphold good governance, CDO Acharya said. 


As part of the new undertaking, the government offices will be required to inform the public on three months' activities through a notice pasted on the offices' premises and hold joint press meet after every three months on 15th date for sharing the information on the activities. 


The offices will be also required to keep an information official, share information on within the specified date and keep record of information disclosed and demand for information. 


On the occasion, NIC Chief Baskota said no one possessed the right to hide information against the legal provisions and warned individuals hiding information will be punished. 


RTI must be fully complied with for democracy's protection, transparency, good governance and sustainable development, Baskota added. RSS
