KATHMANDU, Oct 19: The Medical Education Commission on Thursday increased the fees of medical education.
According to the Commission, new MBBS students will need to pay Rs 200,000 more than the current fee whereas the fee for BDS studies has been hiked by Rs 100,000.
MBBS, BDS fees to remain unchanged this year
Till now, MBBS students studying within the Kathmandu Valley had been paying at least Rs 3.8 million and those studying outside the valley were paying at least Rs 4.2 million for the five-year course. Likewise, medical colleges had been charging at least Rs 1.93 million for BDS.
The fees, according to the commission, were increased considering the inflation.
Medical colleges are accused of overcharging students from what the government fixes for medical students.
