KATHMANDU, March 25: The government has directed the educational institutions to abide by the COVID-19 protocols amid fears of a second wave of the viral infection in Nepal.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on Thursday reviewed the prospective impacts on the health of teachers and students and the activities of educational institutions, in the wake of increasing risk of the COVID-19 infection.

Today’s meeting chaired by Education Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha drew the attention of all the stakeholders to conduct academic activities carefully.

The ministry also urged one and all to adhere to all health standards issued by the government. The educational institutions are required to apply precautionary measures including using face masks, hand sanitizers, and washing hands with soap and water. Similarly, the educational institutions have been asked to frequently measure body temperature of teachers and students and contact the nearest health institution if any person develops the symptoms of COVID-19.

Similarly, educational institutions have been prohibited from organizing mass gatherings such as meetings, ceremonies and annual functions to avoid the spread of the infection.

The ministry also directed the educational institutions to hold regular academic programs without making any crowd and by adhering to the School Operation Framework-2020.
