KATHMANDU, Nov 11: The government has called on the pandemic-hit poor households to apply for receiving a cash relief worth Rs 10,000 each.
Issuing a public notice on Thursday, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) asked the pandemic-hit poor households to apply at their ward offices within two weeks to get the amount. However, anyone being embraced under the government’s social security scheme is not eligible to receive the cash relief, according to the MoF.
The government, on September 10, had announced to provide a cash grant of Rs 10,000 to each of the 500,000 households who lost employment and suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the government was supposed to provide the cash amount before Dashain, the cash distribution was postponed due to a delay in endorsing the guidelines for the same by the authorities.
