KATHMANDU, June 22: Some government bodies have been found not abiding by the rules enforced by government authorities.

The Federal Roads Supervision and Monitoring Office (FRSMO), Kathmandu, had barred digging up roads in the capital for the next three months starting from June 15. But Just a week has passed since the rule was enforced and even the main roads in the capital are seen being dug up causing heavy traffic jams during peak hours.

Issuing a public notice on June 13, the government authority prohibited digging up roads till September 16 citing the difficulties in road maintenance during the rainy season.

“As the roads dug up for water pipelines, sewage, electricity cables and telecommunication, among others, cannot be maintained properly in the rainy season, permission will not be granted to dig up any road segments for the period. Anyone found forcibly digging up the roads will face stern action under the Road Act 1974,” reads the notice issued by the FRSMO.
