KATHMANDU, July 28: The government has appointed Amik Sherchan and Prithivi Bahadur Gurung as the province chiefs of Lumbini Province and Gandaki Province, respectively.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari appointed Sherchan as Lumbini Province Chief and Gurung as Gandaki Province Chief on Tuesday on the recommendation of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
A Cabinet meeting held earlier on Tuesday had made a recommendation to this effect.
Earlier, the KP Oli-led government had unceremoniously sacked Sherchan from the post of Gandaki Province Chief and appointed Sita Paudel as the province chief.
The Cabinet meeting on Tuesday also dismissed Lumbini Province Chief Dharma Nath Yadav, who was also appointed by the Oli-led government, to pave the way for Sherchan to assume office as the Province Chief.
