KATHMANDU, Oct 27: The government has decided to observe a public holiday during the Indian president, Pranab Mukherjee’s visit to Nepal.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers took a decision to this effect on Thursday.
The current government has not taken any initiative for the Nepal visit of the Chinese President. Preparations were made during the erstwhile KP Oli government for the Chinese President visit to Nepal. Back then, it was said that the Chinese president was likely to visit Nepal in September.
“Although, there is no hint by the Chinese President to visit Nepal anytime soon, the government made a clever decision of observing a holiday on Chinese President’s visit to Nepal so as not to look pro-Indian.” said a UML leader.
