Govt working to provide free basic health services to all citizens: Minister Yadav

KATHMANDU, June 25: Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav said that the government is working provide free basic health services to all citizens as guaranteed by the constitution.

KATHMANDU, June 25: Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav said that the government is working provide free basic health services to all citizens as guaranteed by the constitution.


Speaking at the parliament, the minister said that the government is working to provide basic health services to all citizens, mainly the marginalized and poor people.


The government has intensified works to establish health stations at ward levels to provide basic health services to citizens, Yadav said. "We hope we will accomplish the task of establishing health stations at remaining ward levels within one year," the minister said.

Stating that the number of patients of non-communicable diseases is growing rapidly around the world Minister Yadav said that the government has started providing free dialysis service and financial assistance to those who want to transplant kidneys. "The government has been providing financial assistance to patients of 8 to 9 diseases including cancer," he said.


Minister Yadav said that the government cannot legally stop the people who prefer going to foreign countries for medical treatment.  "The government has already introduced laws not to provide assistance to those who go to foreign countries for medical treatment," he said. 


The minister said that the government will not bear the expenses for those who go to foreign countries for medical treatment.
