GORKHA, Aug 31: The two-week-long lockdown enforced in Gorkha to contain further spread of COVID-19 came to an end on Sunday.

A meeting of the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee on Sunday decided to lift the lockdown enforced across the district starting August 17. The decision comes in the wake of a reduced number of COVID-19 cases as Gorkha district witnessed only 12 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.

With this decision, financial institutions and government offices have opened from Monday. Private vehicles are allowed to ply on the road and market places are allowed to stay open.

However, the restriction placed on the operation of beauty parlors, gyms and restaurants is still in place, according to local government officials. Transport vehicles carrying daily essentials, sick people, medicines and fertilizers are allowed to make inter-district movement.
