'Good news' says Bollywood, as govt allows 100 per cent theatre occupancy

MUMBAI
Amidst the pandemic and the lockdown, if there was one industry that suffered the most, it was the theatre-business. Theatres were shut for almost nine to ten months and despite them resuming back to business, there were only a certain amount of seats that were allowed to be occupied and hence there have been no major Hindi film releases yet. However the good news came few hours ago with the central government allowing theatres to run with 100% occupancy.

Information and Broadcasting Ministry of India took a decision on theatres being open to 100% occupancy from February 1. Theatres were shut for almost nine to ten months and despite them resuming back to business, there were only a certain amount of seats that were allowed to be occupied and hence there have been no major Hindi film releases yet.

New-normal and new guidelines have to be followed strictly with the reopening of the theatres. According to a report, there will be sanitizers at the entrance and exit of cinema halls, thermal checks for the staff and moviegoers, intermission timings will be prolonged so that there is not too much of crowd rushing in and out of cinema halls, timings of the show in multiplexes have to be strategically timed so that it doesn’t increase the crowd. It’s even said that the temperature of the air-conditioner will be between 24 to 30 degrees and obviously everyone has to be seen with a mask.

The Bollywood film industry has been very skeptical about its big releases but looks like these gradual changes will change the makers' minds and there will be a flow of releases to be followed in cinema halls. As of now only Salman Khan’s ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’ has announced its theatrical release date which falls on Eid. Kabir Khan’s ‘83’ and Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ have to yet announce their release date.
