Golden Boy at Karma

Golden Boy at Karma

KATHMANDU, Sept 5: American drama 'Golden Boy' is being showcased since Friday at Karma Bar and Lounge in Tripureshwor.

The drama by Deborah Merola revolves around dilemma and the hard time people have while being stuck in a state of confusion. The story also beautifully connects happiness with satisfaction.

The play is about a 21-year-old boy Joe Bonaparte (Amrit Dahal), whose dream is to be a violin player just like his father Bonaparte (Rajkumar Pudasaini) had dreamt for him. The Bonaparte family, originally from Italy, had shifted to the US and was struggling for survival. At such a time, Joe finds himself in dilemma between choosing the path of a musician and doing something that’d earn him big bucks as well as a comfortable life.

Nevertheless, Joe chooses to become a boxer with the thought of earning some quick money. He gradually excels as a boxer and earns the title of 'Golden Boy'. During the course, he becomes romantically attracted to his manager Tom Moody's (Alejandro Merola) girlfriend Loorna Moon (Namrataa Shrestha). Loorna too falls for Joe but she finds herself in an uncomfortable situation. She is confused if she should marry Tom or be with Joe.

The drama depicts human emotions and challenges in an articulate manner. While the play has missed to show the effects of 'great depression' in the US, talented actors manage to charm the audiences with their performance.

The play continues till September 10.
