KATHMANDU, Sept 18: The third edition of Godavari Running Festival is set to be organized on 24th September. Run Camp Nepal, Pump and Base Camp Outdoor are jointly organizing the one day event around Godavari area on the occasion of International Tourism day.
Organizing the press meet in Kathmandu on Sunday, Diwash Lal Pradhan, an Event Manager, informed that the festival will feature four events --TNF 60 K Ultra Run, Salomon 30 K, Suunto 15 K, and TNF Yeti Run- which will be held around Godavari area.
TNF 60 K Ultra Run, Salomon 30 K and Suunto 15 K are individual events while TNF Yeti Run is team event where the teams with four members can participate. According to the organizer, TNF 60 K Ultra Run and Salomon 30 K are for experienced professional runners while Suunto 15 K is just physical fitness challenge for sports enthusiasts.
Event Manager Pradhan informed that they are expecting around 270 participants including 150 in the TNF 60 K Ultra Run, Salomon 30 K and Suunto 15 K events.
Participants can register their names until the 20th September paying Rs 1,000 however they have decided to give 50% discount on the entry fee for the participants coming from out of Kathmandu valley.
The amount collected from the entry fee will be given to St. Xavier's School scholarship fund according to the Event Manager Pradhan.
Organizers also informed that they will bear the expenses of food and accommodation of the female participants coming from out of the Valley.
Besides, running events, the festival will also feature Red Bull All Star basketball match among the national and club level players at the St Xavier's ground, Godavari. The other highlights of the festival are live music, food stalls among other.
The North Face is the main sponsor of the event who has sponsor Rs 150,000 out of the total budget Rs 200,000 of the event.
