Glossary of Journalism released

KATHMANDU, Sept. 7: ´Glossary of Journalism and Mass Communication´ penned by media expert Bhanubhakta Acharya has been released in the Capital on Saturday.

Senior journalist Ram Krishna Regmee, Chairman of Nepal Press Council Borna Bahadur Karki and Chairman of Federation of Nepali Journalists Shiva Gaunle jointly released the book. [break]



Nearly 3,000 media related terminologies have been compiled both in the Nepali and English languages in the book.



Bhrikuti Academic Publications has published the book of Acharya, a Ph. D scholar in media in Canada.



Speaking at the program, media critic and senior journalist Regmee hoped that this book would contribute a lot in the field of journalism and language at a time journalism education is yet to get momentum in the university classes despite rapid development of media sector.



Likewise, FNJ Chairman Gaunle said that journalists should keep the usages of language in media in mind as the words would have far-reaching impacts on social, legal and personal levels.



Similarly, Karki said that media should play a positive role at a time the state is becoming weaker.



Linguist Sharachchandra Wasti, General Manager of Nepal Television Laxman Humagain, News Editor of Kantipur Daily Hari Bahadur Thapa and Likhat Pandey of Bhrikuti Academic Publications expressed their opinions on the occasion.
