DHANGADHI, Sept 27: Normal life here has been affected due to the general strike announced in protest against the report which has recommended stationing the permanent capital of Province 7 in the forest area at Teghari in Godavari Municipality in Kailali district. 

Educational institutions, businesses and transport services are shut due to the strike. General strike supporters have organized demonstrations in Dhangadhi town since the morning. 

The locals have taken exception to the report citing the Teghari forest area was not appropriate for the province capital as large amount from the province’s coffers has been already spent in building physical infrastructure for the temporary capital in Dhangadhi. 

They argued that Godavari lacks necessary infrastructures and establishing the province capital there would entail more cost at the cost of large forest area. 

The special recommendation committee formed by the Province Assembly to suggest the name for the province and the place for the state capital has submitted its report recently.  RSS
