If you are the one who love sekuwa (barbaque), then Bagarkot Food Festival is the place to be at. The festival is set to take place on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at Bagarkot in the eastern Nepali town of Dharan. The event is organized by Bagarkot Sekuwa Byabasai Samitee. The three-day festival aims to increase domestic tourists and promote proper management of hotel entrepreneurs.
Eating junk food is bad for health!
A press meet was organized on Saturday in Dharan to inform about the festival. According to Hari Rai, president of Bagarkot Sekuwa Byabasai Samitee, the festival will begin at 1pm and run till 10:30 pm. Entrance to the event is free. The three-day fest will include various other events such as fashion show, musical concert, and dance. Nevertheless, the hotel entrepreneurs will decorate their hotels while the roads will also be decorated with lights. According to Rai, “Bagarkot is famous for its sekuwa but in the festival, one can also taste dhido, gundruk, sinki pickle and other authentic local flavors.”
For the musical part, singer Kamala Khatri along with local bands will give their performance. According to the Samitee, there are around 45 hotels and restaurants at Bagarkot. Of them, 25 hotels have the facilities of restaurant, lodge and bar.
