KATHMANDU, Feb 7: Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Prithvi Subba Gurung said the Province government had moved ahead with due legal process and foundation.

Responding to the queries by the Gandaki Province Assembly (PA) members at the PA meeting on Friday, Gurung claimed that the Province government was working to meet the basic needs of the people.

He was of the view that the Province government was committed to developing physical infrastructures, health care service, education, tourism promotion, development of sports, good governance and others while adding that it had caught the track to development and prosperity.

Saying that the provincial government was close to the people, Gurung added that his Province was working to meet people's aspiration for development and prosperity as per the spirit of the federalism.

On the occasion, Internal Affairs and Law Minister of the Gandaki State Hari Bahadur Chuman said that the Province government had deployed 25 rescuers for the search of missing trekkers in Annapurna Base Camp.

He added that the rescue operation was affected after the trekkers went missing since 16 January—the day avalanches took place. Chuman said that preparations were ongoing to establish rescue centres in three different places.

Likewise, the PA meeting held on Friday itself unanimously decided to send the bill on 'Gandaki Technical Education and Vocational Training Academy' to the legislation committee.
