Gagan Thapa challenges Deuba’s bid for NC PP leader

KATHMANDU, Dec 20: Nepali Congress (NC) President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa have filed their nominations for the post of parliamentary party (PP) leader of the NC.

KATHMANDU, Dec 20: Nepali Congress (NC) President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa have filed their nominations for the post of parliamentary party (PP) leader of the NC.


Both the leaders reached the office of the Congress Parliamentary Party at Singha Durbar on Tuesday afternoon and registered their nominations for the PP leader of the party.

As per the schedule announced by the Election Committee of the NC, voting for the election of the parliamentary party leader will take place on Wednesday. According to the election process that started from Monday, the nominations of Deuba and Thapa have been submitted within the nomination deadline.


Senior party leader Ram Chandra Paudel proposed Deuba’s nomination and was seconded by Purna Bahadur Khadka. Meanwhile, Dr Shekhar Koirala proposed General Secretary Thapa’s nomination, which was supported by Bishwa Prakash Sharma, Pradeep Paudel, and Dhanraj Gurung. 


Parliamentary party elections will be held on Wednesday from 8 am to 10 am.
